Weekly Quiz Social Media

Social media can be a powerful tool, the power of which can be harnessed to help promote your business – it can also be counter-productive.

I will at the outset apologise if this blog is a tad drier than some we’ve posted but I hope you’ll find the contents useful.

Whereas we typically talk about social media as a single entity it is of course a collection of different platforms, each designed to serve a different purpose, albeit many of them can intercommunicate. For example, you can link your tweet to Facebook so that if you post on one it’ll replicate on the other (and you can control in which direction this occurs).

So, let’s look at a few of the main players individually, how to use them to help promote your events, indeed how we at Weekly Quiz Ltd use them, and feel free to copy our techniques if you find them useful.

Facebook

The daddy of them all – functionality is continuously being upgraded – Facebook can do more this week than last and no doubt some new sparkly facility will be added next week. There are basically two different platforms within Facebook you can use as a business and both are free to set up… first there are groups, useful if you want a free exchange of ideas and discussions where (subject to settings) any member can post or comment – better for a business is to set up a “page” where the owner and any appointed administrators have greater control over content. You can of course within the page post events that are added to your pages’ diary and you can invite potential customers (those that have “liked” or “followed”) to attend, all for free – you can of course pay to boost both posts and events to a wider audience but if you’ve been clever at attracting your local customers onto your page anyway, then normally you won’t need to.

Posts should be colourful, include a GIF or picture and have enough detail to allow customers to attend without having to contact you.

Twitter

Often referred to as “micro blogging” due to the tight character restrictions for any tweet (currently 280 characters) so you must be economical and catchy with your tweets – it helps to be irreverent and humorous from time to time to encourage additional followers. It also helps if you follow twitter users who may have an interest in your events as they may be already reaching the people you’re trying to attract.

Twitter also supports hashtags (a word or phrase without spaces preceded by the # symbol) – try to include relevant tags in your posts, look at what’s trending (you’ll know it is as twitter will offer autocomplete suggestions as you type – try typing “#Monday” for example) but keep them relevant – no point adding #AskingForAFriend if your promoting a pub event night as it won’t encourage retweeting. Again, a GIF or picture can add colour and interest.

Instagram

Think Twitter but picture rather than word driven. The picture tells the story with the added caption filling in the blanks… choose your pictures with care as that’s what will attract people as will hashtags within the description.

Instagram is owned by Facebook so using the two together is encouraged but again you control how and when.

Weekly Quiz Social Media

OK, not strictly social media but we have to shoe horn the self-promotion somewhere – specifically aimed at quizzers, check out the first, (to the best of our knowledge) only, and the finest quiz finding search engine in the world! Every venue we support has their own full web page including an interactive calendar and users can search by day of the week, location , postcode or even partial pub names…

Others

There are others of course – but these are either not popular enough (yet?) or not really suitable as marketing tools.

You may however want to checkout Snapchat, Google + or Reddit which may be of some limited use, but you may conclude that they are more trouble than they’re worth.

See you out there in cyber space but don’t forget that the very best social media is still face to face word of mouth, printed posters, flyers and even chalk boards at the venue itself!

Love Island Quiz Questions and Answers General

Love Island Quiz Questions and Answers

Love Island Quiz Questions and Answers

Here at Quiz HQ we get some quite specific requests from time to time. The most common of these is for a themed quiz.

We are happy to write these for our customers and will usually include the quiz itself, still divided into our ever-popular categorised rounds (typically including our signature connections and one question with five answers rounds) but also picture rounds, word puzzles, anagrams or whatever else has been asked of us. We know that we will often receive requests for the topical or the current and so we make it our business to remain in the zeitgeist. For example, we are currently providing quizzes themed around the World Cup but generally the most popular themes are popularist TV shows or movies.

In amongst the Friends, Simpsons, James Bond, Harry Potters, Marvel and sports based puzzlers we are asked to produce the most popular reoccurring theme is Reality TV and of course the more salacious the program the more popular the request… and they don’t come any more “saucy” than Love island (well, not yet anyway).

Although we can build the quiz for you and deliver it with one of our many hilarious and entertaining hosts (did you know most of our hosts are accomplished stand up comedians?) for either your private party, team build, social event or as part of a regular pub quiz night, if you want to do it all yourself then we’re happy to offer some advice.

So, let’s assume your quiz is based on the TV show Love Island.

First, when it comes to compiling the questions we would recommend you set aside some two to three hours to compile the questions, fact check them against trusted sources, proof read them and arrange them into easy to deliver, fun categories. We certainly would not recommend that you simply copy and paste a bunch of questions from various internet sites for a number of reasons…

  • If you’re a fan of the show you should assume your players are also – they are likely to have browsed the very same sites that you are harvesting questions from
  • Not all websites are created equally – whilst some are pretty good, others simply recycle questions you’ll find elsewhere, or post suggestions submitted by the public with little attempt to check for accuracy
  • Some are out of date

Love Island Quiz Questions and Answers

  1. Which former cricketer appeared on the 2015 show? Max Morley
  2. Currently on the show what is Rosie Williams’s occupation? Lawyer
  3. Which couple have had a baby and has appeared on TOWIE together? Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey
  4. Who is older: Kem or Amber? Kem
  5. How many followers does Camilla Thurlow have on twitter: 200K 300K or 400K? 300K
  6. What is the first name of Danny Dyer’s daughter who is currently on Love Island? Dani
  7. From 2015, which islander regularly appears on TOWIE (The only way is Essex)? Jon Clark
  8. What was the name of the olympic sprinter that appeared in celebrity Love Island 2005? Du’aine Ladejo
  9. What is muggy Mike’s real name? Michael Thalassitis
  10. Which couple won Love Island 2016? Nathan and Cara

Once you’ve compiled your questions – and don’t just go for the obvious ones like “who won” or “who pared of with who” as likely you will bore your intended audience. Better to go with a few head scratcher yet gettable questions that will entertain, get teams talking, perhaps a little good-natured disagreement about a particular answer.

When you host make sure you have a speaker a mic, present the questions is a clear yet entertaining way, slipping in the odd related joke or pun as you go. Make teams feel good about themselves. Don’t embarrass them, even if they are doing less well than their competitors. Keep everyone who’s playing engaged. You may even want to do a couple of rehearsals if this is an unfamiliar skill to you. Again, be prepared to put the time in to get the result you want.

Of course, in our ever-generous fashion we’ve provided some sample questions below, which were written by a professional quiz compiler and fact checked, because that’s how we like to do it.

Have fun with your quizzes – if you ever need any assistance from us we’ll always be pleased to help and if you find the time commitment too onerous then ask us for a quote – I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

We hope you enjoyed our “Love Island Quiz Questions and Answers” blog and if you are running a themed quiz let us know how we can help:

Fathers Day Quiz Questions General

Fathers Day Quiz Questions
Fathers Day Quiz Questions

A pint…

A steak…

And then…. Err, um

Let’s be honest kids, Dads can be the hardest to make feel special and to recognise their contribution and efforts to a family (generally speaking). How about holding a Father’s based quiz party to help celebrate what the man of the house means to you?

Something Different To Celebrate

A few cans, a few nibbles and your father’s friends and their families in a friendly yet competitive trivial tussle. I’m assuming your reading this as you plan to be the quizmaster? If so, a couple of tips…

First, make sure you read through the questions in advance and practice any hard to pronounce words. Next, I’m assuming you’re holding this event at home, arrange the furniture so teams can sit comfortably in teams.

How to Run The Quiz

The easiest and most straight forward method of running a quiz is to call out the questions with teams writing down the answers, to be marked at the end – obviously with this being to celebrate Father’s Day the Dad’s should of course be team captains. At least once a year their opinion should count for something!

Know what you’re going to give as a prize for winning – a trophy, a cup or even “father of the year” style coffee mug/pint glass as suggestions… consider something like a bag of lemons or wooden spoons for the team in last place? You may of course have other ideas as well, but the secret is to have fun with it and inject humour, keep it light hearted.

Finally, pace the quiz so teams have the opportunity to confer on potential answers yet quickly enough that teams don’t get bored.

We’d also suggest including questions or better yet a themed picture round – how about ten baby pictures of the children of the Fathers present? Imagine the scope for laughter when one of the fathers doesn’t recognise one of their own children?

We would recommend hosting the quiz based to ‘Father’s’ taste (Subjects he would like) if you are still struggling you can always include a round based on general knowledge with a fathers day twist. To help start you off, here’s a few Father’s Day themed questions that your welcome to use.

Fathers Day Quiz Questions

  1. Which British comedy series focuses on three priests living on Craggy Island? Father Ted
  2. In England – Father Christmas dates back to which century? 16th
  3. Who originally had the hit song ‘Dance With My Father’? Luther Vandross
  4. What date is fathers day in the UK? Sunday, 17 June
  5. What was the name of Martin Fowlers Father in Eastenders? Arthur Fowler
  6. Released in 2015 which film stars Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and Linda Cardellini? Daddy’s Home
  7. Shirley Crabtree Jr. Was better known as what nickname? Big Daddy (Wrestler)
  8. “It’s not time to make a change, Just relax, take it easy” is the first line to which song? Father And Son (Cat Stevens)
  9. How old is Daddy Pig from the animated television series Peppa Pig? 30
  10. Thirty-two-year-old Sonny Koufax is a character from which film? Big Daddy

make money becoming a Weekly Quiz Affiliate

You may be reading this because you are one of our many funny and talented hosts or perhaps you are an avid quizzer who regularly plays one of our quiz nights, maybe you own, manage or work for one of the venues across the country where we host our quizzes… maybe you just tripped over us with a Google search – it’s possible that you even found us by searching on Yahoo (yea, right)…

The Product

Weekly Quiz is arguably the fastest growing quiz entertainment company in the UK that offers a complete end to end service – providing everything a venue needs to make a night a success, the quiz itself including up to date questions tied to the time of year, current events etc., the host (aka Quizmaster) – a skilled presenter from an entertainment background, often stand up comedians or trained actors, microphone and speaker if required, even pens!

We even have an option for a “TV game show” style quiz with a fully interactive wireless buzzer system as well. As we are increasingly becoming  the “go to” brand for many of the largest pub chains in the UK as they know and love what we can provide. A great and economical night out to entertain their customers and a valuable source of revenue to the venues themselves.

How To Make Money

We are constantly on the look out for new venues that want to host regular quiz nights and we are willing to put our money where our mouth is – if you know a venue, and it doesn’t have to be a pub – we also host quiz nights in sports clubs, social clubs, golf clubs, Student Union bars, indeed anywhere where people gather for a social evening (or perhaps a lunchtime?) then why not tell us about them?

All we need is the name, address, contact number and name of the manager of the venue as well as your contact details and we’ll do the rest. If the venue agrees to hold our quiz nights and runs just one night, we will reward you with a finder’s fee of £50. Sounds interesting?

Quiz Team Name Competition

This all started with a casual conversation with the boss in the office – we were skimming the Team Names page of this website when the boss sighed in only the way bosses can.

“I’ve been promoting pub quizzes now for over 15 years”, he confided “and I can’t remember the last time I saw a truly original, witty, pithy, team name”.

I reassured him that they were out there and possibly because his role had become more office based he just wasn’t seeing them.

He shrugged. “I’m not so sure.”

I laughed “look I do a few quizzes a month and there are always surprises out there, names that make me smile, occasionally laugh or think – names that are new AND make an impact.”

He had that sort of cynical look on his face.

“look” I said, sort of squaring up to him in an assertive yet still respectful way “I’ll prove it, put your money where your mouth is – let’s run a competition to find the best original and memorable pub quiz team name out there – you’ll just have to give a little, err, pecuniary incentive.”

He smiled, he nodded…

The Competition

The Team Name Competition is open to any individual or team to submit their favourite team name (whether it’s been used in a quiz or not) All entries will be judged by Weekly Quiz and the overall winner will receive £100 via a straight forward bank transfer around a week after the closing date of June 17th 2018.

Enter or just have a look at for inspiration on out quiz team name page. but obviously avoid submitting one that’s already on any of the lists (as it won’t win, its not original)

Free World Cup Quiz Questions

With the world cup just around the corner (apologies to Italy and Scotland for reminding you) many venues are looking to include World Cup (Italy, Scotland, oops) themed events and we’ve been inundated with requests and enquiries for themed quiz nights.

We appear to be the default choice for many of the biggest names in the hospitality industry as well as being trusted by household names to run their corporate events so its no surprise that we are the first call many of them will make when they need such an event.

Whist we pride ourselves on the skill, fun and personality of our quizmasters, many coming from an entertainment background, where we really “score” when it comes to these major events is the quality and variety of our questions.

Here at Weekly Quiz we employ professional quiz compilers, some of whom have written for TV game shows and publications. All of our questions are proofed and double checked so you can have the confidence of knowing there won’t be any disputes over vague or poorly constructed questions that could have more than one answer, be factually incorrect, out of date or just plain wrong! What’s more we burrow into the deepest trivia mines and tap into and exploit the richest seams of the interesting, the educational and occasionally quirky fact nuggets out there (we’re also not adverse to using really bad metaphors).

For the World Cup we’ll be using football subject matter specialists, people who really know the topic and can create brain teasing fun questions for you and your quiz teams.

But of course, don’t take our word for it – have a look at the sample questions below just to give you the idea. Now imagine a fun and friendly host delivering those questions in an entertaining way to teams at your event…
